1. Purpose
RingFollow is a service published by GIBIS SARL. It allows anyone who has shot or found a bird wearing a Gibis restocking ring (pheasant, partridge) to report it, and allows the departmental hunters' federations (FDC), the ACCAs (approved communal hunting associations) and GIBIS to follow the recoveries of these rings.
2. Access to the service
Reporting a ring requires no account and works from a web browser. The service works offline: a report entered without a signal is sent automatically as soon as the connection returns. GIBIS strives to keep the service available but does not guarantee uninterrupted operation; interruptions for maintenance or upgrades may occur.
Access to the management console for federations and breeders is personal and restricted to people authorised by GIBIS.
3. Your commitments when reporting
- Provide accurate and truthful information: a ring you actually saw, and the real date, place and circumstances.
- Only report animals shot or found in compliance with the hunting regulations in force (seasons, grounds, licences, shooting plans). RingFollow is not an official marking or statutory reporting scheme and does not replace any legal obligation.
- Photograph only the ring and the animal: no identifiable person, no identity document and no licence in the photos.
- Do not use the service in an abusive, automated or improper way (fictitious reports, mass testing, attempts to access data not intended for you).
- Only enter your own contact details, or those of a person who has authorised you to do so.
4. How your report is handled
Every report is reviewed by the departmental hunters' federation concerned, which may validate it, correct it (misread number, species, municipality), reject it or delete it if it is clearly wrong or a duplicate. The automatic reading of photos is an aid: the number you confirm is the one that counts, subject to this review. If you gave an email address, you receive a confirmation with a reference number to keep.
5. Data and photos: what you authorise us to do
You keep the rights to your photos. By sending them, you grant GIBIS SARL and the departmental hunters' federation concerned a non-exclusive, worldwide licence, without remuneration, for the retention period set out in the privacy policy, to use, reproduce and store your reports and photos for the purposes of verification, linking them to the original release, monitoring restocking and producing statistics. The published statistics are anonymous; no photo or personal data is ever made public.
6. Public statistics and ACCA pages
The Statistics page shows aggregates by department and a map whose points are deliberately imprecise; these figures are given for information only and may be flagged as demonstration data. Each ACCA has a private link to its page: the link itself grants access, so it must not be published or passed on outside the association.
7. Intellectual property
RingFollow, its interfaces, texts, visuals and the Gibis name are protected. Any reproduction or substantial extraction of the service or its data beyond the intended uses is prohibited without the written permission of GIBIS SARL. The public statistics may be quoted provided the source (bagues.gibis.fr) is credited.
8. Liability
The service is provided as is. GIBIS does not guarantee the accuracy of the automatic reading or of the statistics, which depend on the reports received, and cannot be held liable for any indirect damage arising from the use or unavailability of the service. The person reporting remains solely responsible for complying with hunting regulations and for the accuracy of the information provided.
9. Suspension and deletion
GIBIS and the federations may delete any report that breaches these terms and block abusive use. You may ask at any time for your reports or contact details to be deleted (see the privacy policy, section “Your rights”).
10. Changes to these terms
GIBIS may amend these terms; the version in force is the one published on this page, with its date. Continuing to use the service after publication constitutes acceptance.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by French law. In the event of a dispute, an amicable solution will be sought first (gibis@gibis.fr); failing that, the competent French courts will have jurisdiction.
